Common questions. Quick answers.
TowLien by Autura is integrated lien search and notification software for impounded and stored vehicles. It finds a vehicle's interested parties, sends the state-required notifications, and helps you collect fees or move the vehicle to auction — without the manual DMV and post office work.
When a vehicle is towed and enters storage, its data flows from your Towing Management Software into TowLien automatically, so there's no duplicate data entry. Vehicle status updates stay in sync across systems, and TowLien has built-in integrations with Aries, Dispatch Anywhere, TOPS, plus Autura Marketplace for unclaimed vehicle auctions.
There are no monthly fees or subscriptions — you pre-pay and pay only for what you search and send. Rates vary by state and by mail method, and reloading your account keeps you processing vehicles. Detailed rates are maintained separately by our team.
A dashboard tracks every vehicle from impound through mailing, USPS receipt, tracking, and delivery status. From there you can collect storage and impound fees from the owner or lienholder, or move forward with resale, auction, or salvage when an owner does not respond.
Yes. Multiple users and locations are allowed on the business account that registered and was approved for eligibility.
No. TowLien does not issue titles. It helps you search for interested parties, send required notifications, and build the digital print packet to apply for title or salvage. The state issues the title.
TowLien offers a national title search to determine the last state of title, either before or after a search in your home state. Running both covers you on compliance, since a vehicle can show an active home-state registration while having been more recently titled elsewhere.
TowLien is an approved authorized provider in a growing number of states. Check the state rate map above to see where search and notification services are live, then reach out for a demo and we can confirm availability, current rates, and approved mail methods for your state.
TowLien operates under the Federal DPPA (18 U.S.C. § 2721 et seq.), which permits release of protected owner information to notify owners of towed or impounded vehicles. Your business must meet DPPA eligibility, including a physical storage facility address under your company's legal business name with proper authorization to tow, impound, and store vehicles.
